Waste Management collects the trash each week on Monday (except see - Holiday Schedule). If you are disposing of large items or appliances, please contact them directly to arrange for pick-up.
Trash cans should be kept in the garage. If stored outside, they cannot be visible from the street, but this is not recommended because of our proximity to the wetland and the likelihood for wild animal mischief.
Place can at the curb no earlier than Sunday night (and retrieve promptly after collection)
Contents should be bound in bags inside the can - wind too easily blows cans over, lids off, and even the contents while being dumped by the trash collector
Trash cans are the property of Waste Management, and the homeowner is responsible to them for the cost of replacing lost or damaged cans.
The city of Richmond Heights has now also offered free curbside recycling to all city residents. The cans with the yellow lids are used to recycle (see Recycling 101 and can lids for further details).
Recycle cans, bottles, paper, and cardboard
Keep food and liquid out of your recycling
No loose plastic bags and no bagged recyclables - yes this differs from regular trash where we ask contents to be bound (see above)
Those who did not initially request a yellow-lid recycle container and want one may contact the Richmond Heights service department at (216) 731-7014.
Refrigerator disposal: the law requires the doors to be removed, and it must also be tagged by an HVAC technician that the refrigerant (e.g. freon) has been discharged.
